Suzana Phialas (b. 1973, Cyprus) is currently working as a freelance artist developing her own creative practices. She has great interest in a dialogue between contemporary dance and other artistic disciplines and maintains a steadfast focus on collaborations with other artists. Her work aims to promote different forms of dialogue between the audience and performer whilst at the same time exploring the meaning of “contemporary” in the art of our times. Phialas studied Dance and Fine Arts in New York (BA/BFA/MFA) and lived there from 1991-2004. She has worked as an artist, performer/choreographer, video-artist, artistic director and photographer. Suzana belongs to a generation of artists whose work cannot be ascribed to any one specific medium. Her work has been shown in art exhibitions, performances, and dance festivals in Cyprus and internationally since 1995.
