Agate Bankava is one of the most active young choreographers and dancers of the Latvian contemporary dance scene. She graduated Riga Choreography School (2011) and continued her dance studies in the Latvian Academy of Culture BA and MA programs in Contemporary dance (till 2017). Agate creates her own performances collaborating with different dancers and artists and works as a choreographer for dramatic performances in Latvian theatres. Last year Agate created the contemporary dance performance “Nature Morte” for dancers and actors at the Latvian National Theatre. She got the main prize at the annual student theatre festival “Patriarha rudens” (2015). In 2016 Agate Bankava was nominated for the annual Latvian theatre award "Spēlmaņu nakts".

A person is created by time and experience. All of this helps us to live this life according to requirements of the particular era and to enjoy good art, because we know what good is. Five experienced dancers perform in the dance piece where they constantly learn something new about themselves. Just repeatedly going through the movements – it’s the only thing they know how to do.*
