Contemporary dance festival “LAIKS DEJOT” (TIME TO DANCE) started in 1998 as evenings of contemporary dance performances of Latvian choreographers; since 2005 it has become an international festival and currently is the major contemporary dance event in Latvia. Every year in June Riga becomes a meeting place for contemporary dance professionals, students and audiences who come to see recent works by Latvian and international dance artists, to learn and teach as well as to present diverse contemporary dance works. The festival offers dance performances, workshops, masterclasses, seminars and improvisation sessions providing the lovers of contemporary dance with a chance to spend several days inside the whirl of various events. The festival is well known by contemporary dance professionals outside Latvia as demonstrated by countries represented in previous festivals – Argentina, Austria, Bulgaria, Italy, Israel, Ireland, Japan, China, Cyprus, Finland, UK, Hungary, Luxembourg, Moldova, the Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Russia, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland, Uruguay, USA.

“LAIKS DEJOT 2016” is bringing together dance artists from Estonia, France, Italy, Israel, Norway, Slovakia, Slovenia and Latvia offering performances, happenings, workshops, masterclasses, lectures, discussions and jams.
